Proxy Racing

Proxy racing typically involves building a car and then mailing it to another location where it will be matched against similar cars in a race.

Cars are usually built to a specific set of rules, then mailed to a central location for tech inspection.  The cars are run in a series of races by guest drivers, with points allocated according to finishing position.  All points gathered go toward a grand total for the race series.

Slot car proxy races are often accompanied by a Concours d'Elegance, a contest where entrants compete for the best looking car.

Slot car proxy racing enables car builders from different parts of the country, or even the world, to compete on an even basis, without the expense of actually being there.

  2008 UK 1.5 litre F1 Proxy Invitational

July 22nd marks the 1st race of the 2008 1.5L Formula One proxy race being held in England at various tracks.  I have a Brabham BT7 contesting this years event.  Last years car finished third in the concours voting, but turned out to be more show than go.  Not a single point scored in any race.  Here's to better results this year.

2008 1.5L Formula One Proxy Race

The 2008 1.5L Proxy Race is over and it looks like this years entry was again more show than go.  I finished 4th in concours and 10th in the race series.  All in all a very enjoyable experience.  The 2009 format will change and we will be racing hig air box GP cars from the early to mid seventies.

  Vintage Race Across America

I have sent a BRM P261 to contest  the 2008 VRAA.  There are 18 cars entered and it looks to be a very competitive field.  Round 1 qualifying begins August 15th with the race to follow shortly.

2008 VRAA

Again the car looked good but failed to produce much in the way of speed and finished 10th once again in the series.  The 2009 VRAA is set to begin in October and I will probably enter a Lotus 21.
